← This week in AI… · Field note

AI did not make your team faster. Your intake form did.

Every team I audit that credits AI for a speed gain made a process change in the same quarter. New brief template. A single intake channel. Someone finally saying no to Slack requests.

The AI got the credit because it was the visible change. The process change did the work.

This matters because of what happens next. If you believe the tool caused the gain, you buy more tools. If you believe the process caused it, you fix the next process. Only one of those compounds.

Test it cheaply: turn off the AI tool for two weeks and keep the new brief template. If the speed holds, you know which one you were paying for.

This week in AI…

Twice a month. One workflow fix, one tool worth the time, one thing I got wrong.
